2x Rare 1893 Tooting Bec Golf Club gold medals - embossed on the obverse with a period golfer and inscribed Tooting Bec golf club and engraved on the reverse with the winner's details (worn) wt 15.8gms. Note this pair of medals from the famous SW London club were both won by T.R Pinkerton for the 'Ellis Scratch Medal'. Instituted 1888 originally a short 9 hole course on Tooting Common. In 1892, London County Council banned golf on the Common, and the club moved to Furgedown Estate, the property of Sir Charles Seeley Bart. The club moved again in 1906 to South Lodge, "East Side, Mitcham Common", where it remained until the late 1920s. Now exist as a club within Mitcham Golf Club. Today there is a The Tooting Bec medal that is presented to the highest UK born finisher in the Open Championship
