WWI – Surrender of the German Fleet at Scapa Flow 1918 a remarkable photo album containing approx 11 8x6 b&w photographs showing the surrender of the fleet at the end of WWI [where it was scuppered] after the signing of the Armistice in November 1918. These are clearly not press stills, nor bear any official marking, however the size of them and their nature (and quality) suggest that they were taken by an official British naval photographer. The images are mostly captioned and show both British and German vessels, including the German battleship ‘Hindenburg’ and German U-Boats. One shot shows the moment that a U-Boat surrendered to a British boarding party.
