WWII – Nuremberg Trials – autographs – War Criminals an important collection of five…

WWII – Nuremberg Trials – autographs – War Criminals an important collection of five books signed and inscribed by War Criminals who were prisoners awaiting sentence at the Nuremberg Trials. Included are: ‘Die Judengestze Grossdeutschlands’ signed and inscribed by Julius Streicher dated April 1st 1946 ‘Grundsatze der Deutschen Aussenhandelspolotik’ by Walther Funk, signed by him and inscribed ‘Nuremberg 11th May 1946’ ‘Heroisches und gerdnetes recht’ by Hans Frank, signed by him and inscribed ‘In memoriam Nuremberg 15.III.1946’ ‘Das lied der Getreuen’ by Baldur von Shirach, signed and inscribed by him ‘Grundfastze Deutscher Wirtschaftspolitik’ by Hjalmar Schacht, signed and inscribed by him. An historic collection. These were given to Dr Leon Goldensohn, an American psychiatrist who looked after these prisoners, at Nuremberg during the trials. It was this man, who was most probably Jewish who ironically looked after these Nazi prisoners visiting them every day in their prison cells. One can only wonder as to what Goldensohn thought of his charges – and Streicher in particular who was without question one of the most heinous anti Semites in the whole of the Nazis machine- the publisher of the Sturmer newspaper and also of the notorious children’s books that vilified the Jews and exalted the German people to take up anti-Semitism. Streicher was hanged for his crimes in October 1946. Frank was also hanged while Von Shirach and Funk served long prison sentences. Schacht was acquitted.
