India – Maharaja Sir Madhav Rao Scindia of Gwalior. Fine original portrait in ceremonial dress for the 1911 Coronation.  Signed and dated 1913 by the Maharaja. A particularly fine portrait showing the Maharaja in full dress uniform, including the aiguilette he wore as one of the five honorary Indian aides de camp to the King Emperor King George V. He is also wearing the gold issue of the Kaisar i Hind medal and the star and chain with badge [GCSI] of the senior Indian Order of Knighthood, the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India. Over his uniform he wears the mantle of the same Order which was of pale blue silk. Mounted on card & with the photographer's stamp Vandyk, London to the margin.
