"India – Historic Drawing of Maharajah Ranjit Singh and his Sikhs 19th century. A most remarkable drawing of Maharajah Ranjit Singh and his Sikhs. Drawn in 1871 by Frank Freeman after the original by G E White. Titled ‘Irregular Sikh cavalry’ – the drawing in fact is that of Ranjit Singh and his entourage. The drawing was first published  (lithograph) in 1845 just before the outbreak of the 1st Sikh war, by the artist G E White, it was originally titled 'Runjeet Singh and his Suwarree, or cavalcade of Seiks – encamped under a banyan tree on the river Sutlej' Measures approx 11"" by 8"". Ranjit Singh's court was one of the most magnificent in India, particularly when the Maharaja wished to impress visitors. The drawing was most likely used for a publication during the late 19th century, as the original by G E White was no longer available for use. Also with the original hand coloured engraving published 1845. A scarce and important 19th century drawing of Ranjit Singh and his Sikhs."
