Italy – Guiseppe Garibaldi – Revolutionary and founder of modern Italy group of family correspondence including two cut signatures of Garibaldi, three letters of his son Ricciotti, two of which are on his official notepaper as a Deputy of the Italian Parliament and two letters from his aunt ‘Harry’ (Harriet). The letters of the aunt are of particular interest: they are to Mr Gordon asking him for the printing block of the Tomb of Giuseppe as she wishes to print some postcards from the block to sell and raise money for a hospital she has established on the island of Maddalena off the coast of Sardinia. Gordon appears to be the artist of the block.
