Slavery printed ticket dated February 18th 1792 informing the public ‘

Slavery printed ticket dated February 18th 1792 informing the public ‘...that a Petition to Parliament for the abolition of the Slave Trade is ready to be signed at the House of....in... by every person who wishes to express his Abhorrence of a Trade so directly Violating the Common Rights of mankind, and so repugnant to the clearest Dictates of Religions, Justice and Humanity’. On a slip of paper approx 14x8cms, framed and glazed. Ticket has a few creases but is clear and legible throughout. Rare. We have not been able to trace another example in reference sources. Whoever issued this ticket is not clear. It was obviously intended to be used once a place and a town had been decided upon, suggesting that this was part of a national campaign. The date is also somewhat early as Slavery was not finally abolished throughout the British Empire for another 30 years.
