Art and artists – Augusto Rivalta – Italian sculptor manuscript document signed twice, in both Italian and English being a receipt for his work ‘The Angel of Justice’, dated 1887. Rivalta is acknowledging receipt of payment of £575 for the work which was commissioned by Messrs Banks of Cumberland. Rivalta is considered one of the outstanding Italian sculptors of the late 19th c. It is not clear where this particular work now resides. Banks lived in ‘Highmore House’ in Wigton, Cumbria which has now been redeveloped.
