Naval – American War of Independence – West Indies – autograph – Lord Howe fine commission document issued by the Commissioners for the Admiralty, dated August 26th 1784 appointing Rear Admiral Alexander Innes to be naval Commander in Chief for Jamaica and the Bahamas, signed by Lord Howe and two other commissioners, in fine condition with an attractive example of the Admiralty seal to top left hand corner. Innes, when a Captain served in the American War of Independence as Captain of HMS Queen. He had particularly strong religious convictions. Documents of this nature relating to such a high status naval officer are somewhat uncommon
