&quotSuzanne Lenglen - A fine collection of tennis photographs and prints - related to…

&quotSuzanne Lenglen - A fine collection of tennis photographs and prints - related to Suzanne Lenglen and her lawn tennis career in the Riviera tournaments and Wimbledon - The first of four photographs shows Lenglen and Baron Murpurgo playing against Helen Wills and Charles Aeschliman in the mixed doubles final on a hard court at the Nice Tennis Club in 1926. It was the first of only two meetings between Wills and Lenglen in their careers. A second photo shows Lenglen playing Mary Browne on the courts of the Racing Club at the &quot&quotCroix Catelan&quot&quot, in the Bois de Boulogne. An accompanying press cutting from 'L illustration' relates to both the tournament and the match. Two further photographs show Lenglen prior to her Wimbledon victory over Elizabeth Ryan in 1921 and later in her career, seated court-side with her parents and the family pet. The collection is accompanied by 6 press cuttings ranging from 1919 until 1926. Also included is a postcard of her playing in a ladies doubles at the Nice club.&quot
